Thought of the day: COP OUT 15: Copenhagen

THOUGHT OF THE DAY< <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

SO, Plenty was right – Copenhagen was a COP OUT. After days of political posturing, political grand gesturing, and spending OUR money to eat, sleep and talk in the best hotels in Denmark, what has the conference come up with? Just an ‘accord.’

Yes, the whole event costing £130 million to put on, attended by 15,000 people with 192 presidents, it isn’t any wonder the summit has only produced, a pledge. Gordon, to be fair, was desperate to get a legally binding agreement, and he may still get his belated late Christmas present in the New Year, but that doesn’t digress from the fact that this was not COP15, but COP OUT 15.

There’s plans for this the deal they’ve reached at Copenhagen to be made legally binding next year. If the world’s political leaders were so intent on saving the world from climate change, they should have stipulated that no-one is leaving until the treaty is made legally binding. ‘Accords’, or whatever you want to call them can easily be retracted, don’t you think? As PLENTY said before in a previous post, expect more of these conferences in future.

Could you imagine a Climate Conference ever being held in London in future, or China, or US?
